Episode #7 : Cresset Capital’s CIO With $11 Billion AUM and $3 Billion in Acquisitions

Cresset is a 21st century private wealth management company that integrates goals-based investing in public market securities with direct investments in private equity and real estate.

As CIO, I’m responsible for investment policy and strategy, levering a deep understanding of the connection that our valued clients have with the growth and preservation of their wealth.

In money management for three decades, I’ve maintained a client-centric view that’s enabled me to see market opportunities and challenges through an investor lens. This insight informs the unique heuristics I apply to build strategies that reflect our clients’ needs and sensibilities. Of significant focus in my role has been risk management – an evolving appreciation of the nature of risk, and its impact on those who rely on their portfolio to finance spending needs.

I engage with an exceptionally bright, motivated team that helps to guide research, policy and investment strategy, ultimately informing our macro-level allocation decisions. While our process-oriented approach allows us to build a consistent risk profile across our different strategies, our investment professionals ultimately deliver highly customized portfolios at the individual level. Given my philosophy that conventional wisdom leads to conventional returns, I endeavor to manage money the way my clients would want to manage it themselves – along with the benefits of our global insight and expertise.

I’ve authored a Wall Street Journal best-seller (Reading Minds and Markets: Minimizing Risk and Maximizing Returns in a Volatile Global Marketplace), and have been recognized among North America’s the top 100 Wealth Advisors by CityWealth Magazine in 2006, 2010-2018*. My success drivers remain simple: investment performance, delivering on expectations, and effectively communicating our perspectives and strategy.
